Tall Ships Races 2005.. Programme of events
The festivities will begin on Monday the 25th of July. Day and
night the banks of the Tyne and the streets of Newcastle will
play host to a variety of free entertainment including, live music,
fire works, street theatre and much more.
Sunday 24th July
The ships begin to arrive on the North East Coast and makes their
way to Newcastle Gateshead
Monday 25th July
Gateshead Millennium Bridge tilts at 11-11.15am and again at 3-3.15pm
There will be live music and other street entertainment from noon-10pm.
There will also be various stalls including soveniours throughout
the four days
Tuesday 26th July
Gateshead Millennium Bridge tilts at 11-11.15am and again at 3-3.15pm
Entertainment from noon-10pm.
Sport Challenge
Sports include, football, cricket, cycling, rowing, basketball.
Come along and join in the fun from 2-4pm
Crew Parade
Come and watch this spectacular event of crew members from more
than 100 ships parading around the streets of Newcastle Gateshead.
There will be singing, dancing and all crew will be dressed to
impress. The parade will be animated with mythical sea creatures,
mermaids, sea horses and more. There will all so be live music
and street performances. At the end of it all the crews will end
at the Baltic Square for the prize-giving ceremony which takes
place at 5.45pm
Wedensday 27th July
Gateshead Millennium Bridge tilts at 11.30-11.45am and again at
3-3.15pm
Entertainment from noon-9.30pm.
The Crew Shanty Competition: will take place at the Sage
Gateshead Concourse or Performance Square at noon.

Cresting The Waves
On the eve of the Parade of Sail there is going to be a spectacular
show spanning along one-and-a-half mile of Newcastle Gateshead
Quayside.
The show features giant film projections, aerial performers, a
specially commissioned soundtrack and stunning pyrotechnics and
lighting.
Thursday 28th July
Parade of Sail - 8am onwards
Do not miss this. There will be performances all along the quayside
to send off the Ships as they bid farewell to Newcastle and Gateshead
on their way to Fredrikstad, their final destination.
