On-line Hotel booking confirmed


NewcastleGateshead Convention Bureau can now offer delegates a state of the art on-line accommodation booking service.

From today, conference delegates logging onto www.VisitNewcastleGateshead.com can view a wide range of hotels and book accommodation via the web site.

Ian Taylor, NewcastleGateshead Convention Bureau Manager, said: "No other Convention Bureau or destination is currently operating such an advanced service. The benefits of the new system for both event organisers and delegates alike are substantial."

The system which uses the latest in credit card security protection enables delegates to pay a small booking fee on-line to secure their accommodation then to cover the outstanding balance on check-out.

The site also gives delegates access to useful information about their particular conference, details about their hotel and nearby attractions.

As research indicated that 40% of delegates return to conference destinations as leisure tourists, the site will also issue tourist information to site users.

All conference special offers will be posted on the website and the latest technology will also enable details of new deals to be sent automatically by e-mail.

Amongst the first organisations to take advantage of this new facility is The British Urban Regeneration Association which is holding its conference in NewcastleGateshead on 4-5 December 2002.
